Questions editors ask me
My answers in brief. The interview behind them ran word for word in several German newspapers, including Kieler Nachrichten and Süddeutsche Zeitung.
What are people afraid of when replacing their heating?
Of making the wrong decision, less of the technology. They worry about costs, do not understand the subsidies, wonder how energy prices will develop, whether their house is suitable and whom to turn to.
Is it worth waiting for the new heating law?
The row over the heating law has made people more uncertain. In the podcast “Alles wird Strom” I assess the new law from the residents’ point of view, in terms of climate policy and law, and evaluate federal policy (German).
What has the hesitation cost so far?
Around €24 billion in additional revenue for gas suppliers and at least 98 million tonnes of additional CO₂: that is what my analysis of the “heating hammer” campaign shows.
FOCUS online, 27 February 2025 (German) (opens in a new window)
How do I know what gets people moving?
I evaluate every evening, 4,943 questionnaires so far. Agreement with “A heat pump can work for my house” rises from 77 to 93 percent in one evening, and 92 percent plan to tackle the topic now.

What can towns and municipalities do?
Invite people and open the hall. More than 12,500 people have come to the Heat Pump Info Days since autumn 2025, over 1,100 in a single evening in Würzburg. The municipality invites, experts answer.
How do you talk about heating without a fight?
With figures that hold up and examples from the neighbourhood. I developed the communication for Germany’s Heat Pump Week (dena, Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs): 550 events, and applications for heat pump funding tripled.
“Hardly anyone still asks whether to get a heat pump. Almost everyone now asks: how do I do this in my own house?”Quote to use · Anja Floetenmeyer-Woltmann

Send me a short note on the topic, the programme or outlet and when you need me. I come to the studio, join by video or talk on the phone, in German or English.
You get sourced figures, examples from the halls of the Heat Pump Info Days and press photos on request. I speak manufacturer-neutrally about clean heat, costs and how people reach a decision; for individual products, the manufacturers are the right people to ask.
Transparency
The Heat Pump Info Days are brand- and manufacturer-neutral. Each one is hosted by a municipality and supported by companies from the heat pump industry: Brötje, Buderus, Daikin, LG, Midea, Mitsubishi, NIBE, Panasonic, Stiebel Eltron, Vaillant, Viessmann, Wattgeht, Weishaupt and Wolf, in cooperation with the German Heat Pump Association (BWP).
